I wanted to write to let you all know about the new San Francisco subsidy for solar power that just came out. If you own a home in San Francisco the city will give you $4000 to install solar with no strings attached. If you live in an “environmental justice area” (which means zip codes 94107 and 94124) then they will give you $5000! These credits are in addition to both state and Federal subsidies of comparable value. Also, If you own a business, this San Francisco credit provides $10,000 for an installation.

Here is a link to an article I wrote about a basic residential quote in San Francisco, to give you a firm grasp on what a system might cost. The financial numbers for businesses work out to be even more lucrative given that the 30% Federal tax credit has no cap, as well as that you can take advantage of advanced 5-year depreciation schedules. However, businesses locations are often leased in SF, so a good match is hard to find.

Please forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in saving thousands of dollars in power costs.
